93 Feet East, E1
93 Feet
East is the place to be in East Central for both clubs and gigs. Usually,
the live music stage forms part of an evening's entertainment that will
also include DJ sets in at least one other room, which is great because
if the band suck you can wander someplace else (oops, Americana creeping
in). Earl Brutus playing at Sonic Mook Experiment was a
typical example (not that Earl Brutus sucked).
The great thing about going to a club night here is the variety on offer:
usually three rooms are open, all playing a different style of music.
The main room is the loudest and is likely to offer house music of some
style or another, the Boogie Bar tends to play hip-hop, funk and party
tunes, while the loft upstairs tends to be more eclectic (depending on
the night). The courtyard area is also great in summer.
The down point is that this place is always rammed, particularly at the
weekend, when if you don't get there before 10pm you're likely to face
a big (and slow moving) queue.
