of the Week |

Orbital, 15th (and 16th) November 2001, Brixton Academy Rated by some as not just the best live dance act in the world, but the best live act in the world, period. Although there isn't much to look at on stage in terms of the brothers Hartnoll, who work their magic mainly by pushing buttons and twiddling knobs, their live show is simply stunning. With such an awesome back-catalogue, from those euphoric first notes of Chime to the gut-quaking Satan, as well as around a decade's experience of doing this whole live dance-music thing, you know pretty much what you're gonna get at an Orbital gig. But the anticipation is half the fun. There's also the small matter of promoting their tough-as-nails new material. Orbital play two nights at the Academy. The 15th November features support from the increasingly wonderful Royksopp, playing a live set, plus Plump DJs playing, er, a DJ set. Royksopp brought the house down when they played at 93 Ft East earlier this year, so get there early. The 15th is 7pm-midnight. The 16th is an all-nighter (9pm-6am), with full supporting line-up including SLAM live, plus Plump DJs. Orbital all-nighters are the stuff of legend, so whichever night you go you're bound to have a big night out. Brixton
