Gig of the Week

Roots Manuva, Friday 12th October 2001,
The Forum, Kentish Town

Since Roots Manuva released their mighty long player Run Come Save Me, this is the gig we've all been waiting for. It should mark the triumphal high point for the crew who have, without doubt, released the best British hip-hop album in years and, along with friends like Black Twang, Big Dada Records and Jazz Fudge Records, helped revitalise an ailing scene.

Main-man Rodney Smith was on the radio the other night worrying that he wasn't going to sell any tickets for this gig. He should cool his head, man! With guests and DJs still TBC, a late licence until 2am, and a bargain ticket price (£10) the place is sure to be rammed. Be sure to Witness it for yourself.

The Forum, Kentish Town, tickets £10 advance (available at face value from the Mean Fiddler Box Office at the Astoria, Charing Cross Road)
