Gig of the week

The White Stripes@ 100 Club, Oxford Street, Thursday 26th July 2001

Barely a month has passed since the awesome (and very loud) Strokes/Mouldy Peaches gig, and already another treat is in store for fans of the new(ish) garage rock sound emerging from the US. Think The Make Up, but with more twangy, backward gee-tar.

Brother and sister duo Jack and Meg White have released 2 albums already, including the excellent De Stijl (pictured), and by the time of the gig, the eagerly anticipated third LP, White Blood Cells, should be well and truly engraved on your brain.

Needless to say, this rare UK appearance is already sold out - if you've got a ticket, we'll see you down the front.

Stop Press: A second London show is now on sale, Monday 30th July, Camden Dingwalls, £8, available from Stargreen (020 7734 8932), Rough Trade shops etc.
