The
Faint + Radio 4 + Go
Wed 20th Nov
The Monarch, Camden
If
memory serves us correctly (and we admit, it probably doesn't), we make
this The Faint's second Monarch gig of 2002, the band having played a
gig there in early January, when most people were cocooned in a very snug
duvet somewhere.
So if you missed them back then, there should be no excuses this time,
particularly as in the last few months their scratchy electro-with guitars
sound has suddenly dropped into fashion. If you want a blueprint for The
Liars' incendiary fusion of guitars and spiky dance beats, look no further.
Meanwhile hot new band Radio 4 are riding the NYC-based post-punk wave
with consummate ease. Their Gotham album is already out there doing
brisk business, and remix action from the DFA bods is likely to push the
band into the clubs with the track Dance to the Underground just
as quickly as their live performances will endear them to crowds at indie-dives
like the Monarch and the Garage.
Tickets are £9 advance and are now sold out.
** New date added at The Garage, Tue 10th Dec, with support from the
Raveonettes. £8adv.**
