Dot
Allison, Cargo
Thu
15th August, 7pm-1am
After
a less than thrilling gig at the lofty ULU a few months back, Dot returns
to play live in an environment that should be much more suited to her
club-orientated sound. The album We Are Science has hardly set
the world on fire, but does reward with repeated listening, in particular
thee hypnotic I Think I Love You.
Live,
she is a bit of an ice-maiden, but these songs (such as latest single
Strung Out) are warmer than she likes to admit, and the beefed-up
beats should get you moving, even if her voice doesn't.
Also
playing tonight (on the decks, that is) is Richard Fearless, who's anarchic
house/techno/punk sets have become the stuff of legend over the last few
months, not least because he has a teasing habit of dropping new Death
In Vegas material into his set, such as the awesome new track Your
Hands Around My Neck.
Dot
is due on stage at 9pm, so the advice is get there early!
