Peace One Day - The Celebration

In these times of military build-up and the seemingly inevitable march towards conflict and war in Iraq, Peace One Day - marking the UN's International Day of Peace - comes at a sadly appropriate time. Although having said that, there are plenty of other conflicts raging around the world that we shouldn't forget either.

While there may be issues surrounding the UN on the one hand promoting a day of global ceasefire and non-violence while on the other sanctioning a US-led military invasion (if that's how it turns out), you cannot help but admire the organisation and in particular its inspirational Secretary General, Kofi Annan.

The night will feature live performances from 1 Giant Leap, Faithless, Starsailor, Nenah Cherry and Zero 7, which hardly sets the pulse racing, but is still not bad for £15. A DJ set from UNKLE is also promised, as well as special guests and video addresses/messages from Kofi Annan, Damon Albarn, Michael Stipe, Jonny Lee Miller and many more.

A worthy cause and a way to go out and show you care about peace, goodwill and that.
