Hung
Drawn and Quartered @ 15 venues across Shoreditch.
Thu 2nd October 2003
The idea of putting on a shedload of club and gig nights all in one area
on one night is not a new one - there's been the infamous Camden Crawl,
as well as similar events in Shoreditch too - but the HD&Q plans step
it up a gear, with 15 venues joining forces to put on live music, clubs,
films and art.
There's over 25 live acts playing, 40 odd DJs, and work from a similar
number of international artists will be on display, while the streets
will be lit up and decorated with projections and specially commissioned
art pieces.
The list of clubs putting on events reads like a top 5 list of in vogue
London clubs, including NagNagNag (featuring the moody electro of Legowelt
live), 21st Century Bodyrockers, Eat Your Own Ears (with Radioactive Man),
Future Rock & Roll and Return to New York.
Other live acts playing are: The Bogs and The Duke Spirit (for a City
Rockers night), Aiden Smith and Misty Dixon (Twisted Nerve night), The
Bandits and The Mountaineers (The Bandwagon at Cargo). Other highlights
include Atomizer, Electralane, A Certain Ratio, Richard Fearless and the
Rough Trade jukebox.
Venues taking part include: 333, Cargo, Catch, Cocomo, Herbal, The Pool
Bar, Dream Bags/Jaguar Shoes, seedy stripclub The Spreadeagle, The Aquarium,
On The Rocks and The Bean.
The only problem is gonna be trying to get around all the venues and taking
it all in.
Tickets, priced £12, can be bought from ticketweb, Carbon Records
(High St Ken and Kingley Court Soho), Small Fish and Rough Trade. On the
night they can be bought from Shoreditch Church for £15 (also the
place where you exchange your ticket for a wristband). Events are from
7pm to 2am.
If you're reading this and thinking it unfair that Shoreditch gets all
the good stuff the good news is that HD&Q plans future events in Camden
(04/04), Brixton (10/04) and Ladbroke Grove (04/05).
